Great Internships/Fellowships/Jobs for Theater/Film Majors

I've complied this rather short list that I intend to expand upon for those who are relatively theater & film majors like me. Most of the internships, fellowships, and jobs pay something or are fairly influential positions and will help you get better jobs in the future.

Summer Internship with the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Foundation

Wanna get credit with the people in charge of the Emmy's? This is your chance! Freshmen through Graduates can apply, including graduating seniors. Pay is $4,000 every two weeks, but you are responsible for your own housing, transportation, and other expenses. Background check required.

La Musica Lirica

Learn Italian while building your resume? Then this internship is for you! Looking for theatrical production personnel, housing is provided, but all other expenses including transportation must be arranged by the intern. This is a five week internship in Novafeltria, Italy which is approximately 3 hrs from Pisa and Roma. Credit is offered through Ohio University.

Travel Grants for Theater Majors to Work in Russia, Eastern or Central European Countries

Only open to theater professionals or those with a US theater that qualifies for funds.

SeaWorld College Internship

No additional information at this time as they're not accepting interns. I know that housing is not provided though. Drug test maybe required.

New York Theater Workshop: Emerging Artists of Color & General Internships

This fellowship is for artist's in residence who will be hired on as regular staff in 2 yrs. Internships are open to everyone and occur in the Spring, Summer, and Fall. Metrocard is offered to interns. Rate of pay not listed, but housing isn't covered. This would be good for someone already in the metro-NYC area.

American Repertory Theater (ART) Theatrical Production Internship

Every imagined going to Harvard? ART is looking for people in all facets of theater production for the Fall, Spring, and Winter. A housing and expense stipend will be considered. Two letters of recommendations required. Internship lasts for approximately 5 weeks.

Universal Studios Orlando Internship

Sophomores through Graduates with minimum 2.75 GPA. Transportation and Housing are interns responsibility. This is a PAID internship though. Spring, Summer, and Fall internships offered.

Juilliard Professional Internship Program

Internships are 40 hrs a week with a weekly stipend of $295. Internships begin in September and end in May. Housing is not offered.

Feld Entertainment

Traveling production company that produces "Disney on Ice!", "Ringling Bros." and others. All positions are paid, but some will require tour-level traveling or relocation. Great way to get your foot in the door if you want to do "tour" anything.

Antiquarian Institute Fellowship for Creative & Performing Artists

Fellowship is awarded for a 4 week stay with $1,300 given for those residing in scholar's housing and $1,800 for those who aren't.

Vee Entertainment

Vee is responsible for producing "Sesame Street Live" and similar productions. This company requires a 45 week commitment from anyone who signs on as this a "touring" position.

Costume Society of America

Various grants, scholarships, and fellowships for costumers who are members and either professionals or students.

USITT Fellowship

Funds for various projects in relation to Costume Design by members.

Donna Reed Scholarship

If you reside in or went to high school in Crawford County, Iowa, you can qualify for this $1,000 scholarship if you also participated in 2 high school drama productions.

PCPA Theaterfest Internship

Theater offers scholarships that range upto $9,000. Internship can be 3 months, 9 months, or 12 months.

Orlando Repertory Theater Internship

Full time interns are paid $155 a week, plus are given 2 tickets to a production. No housing, but internship can be season or semester long.

The Pearl Theater Company Internship

Full time internship with pay at $200 a week, Fall or Spring term. No all internships are paid.

The Shakespeare Theater Internship, Fellowship, & Apprenticeship

The fields involved vary, but you're paid $150 a week, given a metrocard, and offered housing if you're not from the D.C. area. Expect to work full-time, but possibly pick-up extra hours in box office, housing management, etc.

FIT Internship

I wouldn't normally list and unpaid internship with this level of requirements, but it's for FIT, ranked 2nd in Fashion Design in the US. This is a 130 minimum internship and is, as I mentioned, unpaid.

MTV Networks Internships

Again, most of these are unpaid, but it's for MTV, so you decide if you want to do it. They have internships on both the east and west coast with their various offices.

Pixar Internship

Details given are minimal. You will be considered for full-time work. Background in film production is obvious. Sounds like unpaid.
